(Longview, WA) – The Lower Columbia women's basketball team kept its West Region record perfect but they also received a stern test in a 73-52 victory over South Puget Sound on Wednesday February 9
th.
The game was much closer than the score indicates. LCC was up 52-49 after three quarters as the Clippers outscored the Devils 22-12 in that third quarter. Instead of panicking, the Devils outscored the Clippers 21-3 in the fourth quarter to raise their West Region record to 6-0, 17-1 overall.
Jodi Noyes had a huge game for LCC. The sophomore post scored 20 points and pulled down 12 rebounds. Noyes had her double-double at the half (14-10). Noyes was 9 for 12 from the floor and 2 for 2 at the line.
Katelynn Forner was not going to allow the Devils to be upset on this night. She had 10 points, five assists, five steals and played outstanding defense especially in the 4
th quarter.
Chinedu Nnadi had 13 points on the Devils bench.
Asia Castillo also provided some solid minutes with seven points and two blocks.
Despite hitting just 4 of 13 three-point attempts and shooting 39 percent from the floor, the Devils out rebounded the top statistical rebounding Clippers to get the victory.
The NWAC #2 ranked Devils will be off for a week as Grays Harbor shut down its women's team for the season. The next LCC game will Wednesday February 16
th at Green River, tip off at 5:30 pm.
