Devils Mount a Great Comeback In Road Win At Pierce

(Lakewood, WA) – The Lower Columbia College men's basketball team was faced with a pivotal moment.

On the road and down by 20 points at halftime, the Devils showed that they won't quit and they rallied for a 78-67 victory over the Pierce Raiders.

It was a tale of two halves.  The Devils were down 45-25 at the intermission and it looked like they had nothing going right.  But all of a sudden the ball started to move and the shots began to fall.  After shooting 30 percent in the first half, the Red Devils improved team play led to 55 percentage shooting in the final 20 minutes.

Ky-mani Pollard shook off the rough first half and fueled the comeback. Pollard hit 5 of 7 three-pointers and scored 18.  He also had an incredible nine steals.

Emanuel Steward was also a key to the victory.  The freshman guard had 21 points, four assists and three steals.

Sherman Royal III was also rejuvenated in the second half and ended up with 12 points and five steals.

Kyle Gruhler had 11 points and six rebounds.

The victory was huge because LCC was in danger of falling two games behind Tacoma in the race for the West Region championship.  Tacoma remains a game ahead of LCC in the loss column but the Devils have a chance to tie things up when they host Tacoma on Wednesday February 23rd.  An LCC win would mean a season sweep over the Titans and the tie-breaker in case the teams remain tied at the end of the regular season.

Game time Wednesday is 7:30 pm.
