(Eugene, OR) Lower Columbia women's basketball start the 2022-23 season off winning 2 of 3 at the Lane Classic in Eugene, Or.
The first game of the season for the Red Devils was a rematch of last season NWAC Final Four game with Lower Columbia and Lane facing off. LCC got into a hole early with Lane outscoring them 16-8 in the first quarter and then 14-10 in the second putting the Devils down 30-18 at the half. A deficit that would prove to much to overcome as Lane would go on to win 55-40.Â
Despite fighting the flu LCC sophomore,Â
Jazlynn Novelli, put up 20 pts, 7 rbs, and 4 seals to lead the Devils offense.
Courtney Swan had 6 pts and 6 rbs.Â
Aivine Soakai had 5 pts and 2 rbs.Â
The Red Devils as a team shot 28.6% from floor, and 29% from the 3pt line.  The team also had 16 fouls to Lanes 7.Â
With day one behind them the Devils came out with a new mind set and got to work vs the Southwestern Oregon Lakers and this time it was the Red Devils turn to dominate.
LCC shot 44% from the floor in the first quarter, 20% from the 3pt line, and 100% from line leading to a 47 to 19 half time lead over SWOCC. Â
The Second half was much of the same with the Devils hitting their shots and winning the turn over battle. LCC forced 44 turn overs while giving it up 17 times.

Macy Fuller lead the Devils with 14 pts and 2 ast.
Courtney Swan had 13 pts and 4 steals.Â
Paige Mace had 12 pts, 5 ast, and 5 stl.
Aivine Soakai had 12 pts and 7 rbs.Â
Jazlynn Novelli had 12 pts, 3 rbs, and 3 ast.Â
Katie Hanson added 10 pts, 6 boards, 2 assist, and 2 steals.Â
The final game of the weekend was vs the Linn-Benton Roadrunners.Â
The Devils and Roadrunners stayed pretty even throughout until the 4th quarter when LCC out shot and out rebounded Linn-Benton to take the 61-47 win.
Once again Novelli had a 20 point game to lead LCC.
Katelynn Forner had a big game 10 pts, 9 rebounds, 4 assist, and 4 steals.
Soakai had her first double-double as a Red Devil with 10 pts and 12 rebounds. Mace added 10 pts, 4 rbs, and 4 assist. Hanson had 6 pts and 11 rbs.Â
