Dave Andrew was just beginning his introductions prior to the Centralia at Lower Columbia volleyball match, the power went out. The emergency generators kicked in and the action on Wednesday October 19
th began.
LCC security informed game management that there would only be about an hour of emergency power available. Luckily the Cowlitz PUD crews were able to repair the blown transformer and get power back to the gym before the match would have been postponed.
The Red Devils almost finished a 3-0 sweep in about an hours' time. The Devs also participated in the nationwide Dig For The Cure movement to show support for breast cancer research and cancer survivors.
Paige Chinchen led an efficient Red Devil attack with 13 kills as the Devils won the match 25-12, 25-17 and 25-14.
Kate Johnson had a .467 kill percentage with eight on the night. Chinchen added nine digs to go with her 13 kills. Chinchen is ninth in the NWAC with 229 kills (2.49 per set).
Alex Tinsley had 15 assists.
Kate Onespot-Danforth had nine.
Jazzy Golly was very good serving with a team-high seven aces.
Arianna Vreeland had 17 digs against the Blazers. Vreeland leads the entire NWAC with 430 digs (5.18 per set).
The Devils go to 7-1 in West Region play. LCC has a huge road match on Friday October 21
st as they take on Highline at 6 pm in Des Moines. Highline leads the division with a 7-0 record including a 3-2 win over LCC earlier this season.
