(Des Moines, Wa) Lower Columbia Volleyball showed some real grit after coming back from a 2-0 set deficit to defeat Highline 3-2 (19-25, 18-25, 25-21, 28-26, 15-8).
The Red Devils knew going into Friday's match that winning at Highline is not an easy task. After dropping the first two sets, it was not looking for the Devils. But the Devils motto of 'We Fight' was proven over the next three sets as the Devils came out in the third set with one goal, win this one. After taking the third, 25-21, the momentum shifted in Lower Columbia's favor. The Red Devils started the fourth off strong but Highline was not about to roll over. LCC served for set point but was unable to capitalize letting the Thunderbirds tie it up at 25-25. Highline then went up 26-25 and served for set point but this time it was LCC that with point to tie it up at 26. Lower Columbia got the next two points to win the fourth set 28-26. LCC was fired up for the fifth set and showed has they defeated Highline 15-8 to win the match, giving Highline there first league loss of the season.
Jayden Foster lead the Devils with 18 kills and 2 blocks.
Kate Johnson continued to shine with 11 kills, 6 digs, and a block.
Jazzy Golly added 8 kills and a game high 9 blocks.
Katy Cooper put up 8 kills, 10 digs, and 2 ace serves.
Paige Chinchen added 8 kills, 16 digs, and 3 ace serves.
Brooke Parsons had a great night with 13 digs and
Arianna Vreeland was all over the court with 27 digs.
Alex Tinsley had a game high 47 assists and a block to go with her 10 digs.
The win clinches an NWAC playoff birth for the Red Devils. Lower Columbia currently sits a number one in the West Region standings with three matched left to play. Highline is at second with four matches remaining.
