After the festivities were over it was time to get serious as the Pierce Raiders are never a team to take lightly. Less than 4 minutes into the match Pierce forward Regina Garay followed a saved shot and hit the second chance goal. Lower Columbia quickly regrouped and continued to work the ball, like they have all season, and 4 minutes later
Fiona Andrews found herself in perfect position to receive the pass from
Nataija Blaylock and hit the back of the net to tie it up.
The Red Devils kept the attack up dominating time of possession. In the 18th minute
Libby Brown worked her way around a couple of Pierce defenders for a one- on-one vs the Raider goalie hitting the shot to give the Devils 2-1 lead. Then, in the 35th minute Andrews hit the cross to
Mikaella Moreira who put the right touch on the ball to sail it in for the 3-1 Devils lead.
In the second half, Lower Columbia continued to control the ball. In the 58th minute Bennion climbed the ladder to head in a pass from Blaylock to give the Devils a 4-1 lead. Pierce continued to battle and in the 86th minute Madison Ryneski caught LCC Goalie
Taylor Wilkinson out too far and hit the shot over her head to give Pierce a little hope cutting the lead to two. But that would be it as LCC would hold off the Raiders complete a 4-2 win.
The victory keeps Lower Columbia (9-0-4) at the top of the West with 31 points. Highline (8-1-3), who had a bye on Saturday, is in second with 27 points and Clark (8-3-1) rounds out the top three with 25 points.
