Devils Blank The Gators, Stay Unbeaten In The West

(Kent, WA) --  Two first half goals and solid defense throughout was the recipe for a 2-0 victory over Green River Wednesday October 12th in Kent.

Nataija Blaylock and Jasmari Nolasco each scored in the first half and that was all the Devils would need to stay unbeaten and in first place alone.

Blaylock's unassisted goal at the 22 minute mark gave LCC the lead.  The way the LCC defense was playing, it seemed over when Nolasco's unassisted goal hit the mark at 38'.

LCC goalkeeper Kyla Pires got the shutout with seven saves.

LCC outshot Green River 17-11.  The Devils had five corner kicks to just one for the Gators.

Mikaella Moreira had five shots, two on-goal for LCC.

Lower Columbia is now 8-0-4 in West Region play.  The Devils have 28 points, three ahead of second place Clark with 25.  Once beaten Highline is in third with 24 points.

If the Devils are going to win their first division title since 1998, they will have to do it on the road. The final three matches will be away from home.

The next game is the last home game of the regular season, Saturday October 15th against Pierce.  The game begins at 12 noon at Northlake Field.  Just prior to the action the Lower Columbia sophomores will be honored on Sophomore Day.
