Devils Stay In First After Road Draw At Highline

(Tukwila, WA) – In soccer, there are many instances where a tie can be considered "a good result".

Although the Lower Columbia Red Devils feel they could have done more to get a win, they will certainly take a road tie against a quality opponent like Highline.

The Devils and T-Birds tied 1-1 on Saturday October 8th at the Starfire Soccer Complex in Tukwila.

Highline didn't waste any time as they jumped out 1-0 on a Elena Pinto goal just under three minutes into the match.

But the Devils battled right back and tied it up 1-1 at 20' when Molly Romanchock scored off an Adalie Schierscher assist.

The teams then settled into an entertaining display of defense and ball control.

Highline had 18 shots with nine shots on goal. LCC goalkeeper Kyra Pires continued her outstanding work with eight saves on the day.  The Red Devils had 13 shots with five on goal.  Both teams had three corner kicks.

Mikaella Moreira and Nataija Blaylock each had four shots for LCC.  Three were on goal for Blaylock.

The tie keeps Lower Columbia in first place in the West Region at 7-0-4.  The Devils have 25 points, one ahead of the T-Birds at 7-1-3.

The Devils travel to Green River for a 1 pm match on Wednesday October 12th. The action is at the Wilson Playfields.

The final home game of the season for the Devils is Saturday October 15th, 12 pm at Northlake Field.  It's Sophomore Day as they will be honored prior to the game.
