(Bellevue, WA) -- Two perfect corner kicks by Bellevue allowed the Bulldogs to take a 2-0 victory over Lower Columbia on Tuesday September 15th.
In a tight, well contested match that was tied 0-0 after 60 minutes of play, Bellevue broke through with a well executed corner kick. Natalie Hawkins corner was headed in by Madeline Drye at 61' and it was a lead that Bellevue would not give up.
The Devils had numerous opportunities to get the equalizer.Â
Grace Bergstedt's shot was saved a minute later.Â
Chloe Poole's shot went high at 67'. Katie Waggoner got a good look at the 68' mark.Â
Libby Brown then had a golden opportunity but her shot went just left with the Bulldog goalie on the ground.
Still down 1-0,
Ellie Seekins shot was saved on a diving effort by Bellevue's keeper Cecilia La-Gaurdia.
Bellevue got what turned out to be the clincher when another well placed corner by Hawkins found Fatumata Dukureh to make the score 2-0.
The Devils outshot Bellevue 13-8 and had a 5-4 advantage in corner kicks, but alas Bellevue made two of them count.
Jade Cox had four saves for LCC.
The Devils are 1-1 in league play as they get ready to play Grays Harbor in Aberdeen on Saturday September 18th. Match time is 12:00 pm at Stewart Field located at Aberdeen High School.
