Five Devils get their first collegiate goals has the Red Devils shutout Grays Harbor 8-0 on Saturday, September 18, in Aberdeen, WA.
The Devils first goal came 5 minutes in has
Shaylee Kawaguchi hit her first collegiate goal when she knocked one into the corner. Goal number two was at the 9 minute mark when
Ellie Seekins also got her first collegiate goal when she put one into the back of the net from the top of the box. The Devils continued to press and in the 37th minute
Libby Brown scored the first of her two goals on the day has she ran around the Chokers defender to hit goal number 3 for the Devils. Brown's second goal came just before the end of the first half off of a
Jerika Isaacson pass to the middle. At the half it was Lower Columbia 4, Grays Harbor 0.Â
In the second half four more Devils found their mark in the goal.
Alexis Richard hit her first collegiate goal in the 51 minute, Ana Ulrigg then joined in and hit her first goal on the season in the 64 minute.Â
Grace Bergstedt then added to it with her first collegiate goal in the 70 minute, and then
Brandi Stoker, who usually plays the goalkeeper position, came in at forward and hit her first collegiate goal in the 82 minute to finish things off for the Devils.Â
Lower Columbia out shot Grays Harbor 32 to 5.
Jade Cox and
Kyla Pires split the day at goalie to keep the Chokers off the score sheet.Â
Grays Harbor keeper, Emily Martinez, had 13 saves on the day.  Â
The win puts the Devils at third place in the west with a 2-1-0 record, 4-3-1 overall, behind Highline (2-0-1,4-0-1) and Bellevue (2-0-1, 3-3-2).
Next up for the Red Devils is the Centralia Trailblazers (0-1-1, 2-2-2) at Centralia on Wednesday, September 22, match is set for 7:00 pm. Then the Devils are back at home vs the Tacoma Titans on Saturday, September 25, at Noon.Â
