(Longview, WA) – The Lower Columbia women's soccer team got West Region play off to a flying start with a 4-1 victory over the Pierce Raiders on Saturday September 11
th at Northlake Field.
Alyssa Pfaender scored two goals to lead the way although her day became bittersweet when she suffered a knee injury. Pending further tests, it's unclear for her status going forward.
The Devils didn't take long to get on the board. Jerika Issacson scored on an
Abby Schroeder assist just three minutes into the game.
Pfaender scored the first of her two goals at the 13 minute mark which gave LCC a 2-0 lead at halftime. She then scored early in the second half to give the Devils a 3-0 lead. That goal was assisted by
Libby Brown.
The Devils dominated in possession and the attack. The Raiders had just three shots on goal and
Jade Cox collected two saves. The Raiders avoided the shutout when Madison Ryneski scored in stoppage time.
LCC had 10 corner kicks to the Raiders two.
The Devils are on top of the division after the first games, tied with Highline. LCC raised its record to 3-2-1 on the season.
Lower Columbia will take on the Bellevue Bulldogs Wednesday September 15
th in Bellevue. Match time is set for 2:00 pm.
