Super sophomore
Camryn Wilson led a balanced Lower Columbia College volleyball attack as the Devils opened the season with a 3-1 victory at Clackamas on Friday August 27th.
Wilson, back for her third season due to the pandemic, showed the type of leadership and talent she brings every night. Wilson had 12 kills, 20 digs, two blocks and three aces as the Devils won 26-24, 25-14, 23-25 and 25-21.
The opening set looked to be an easy one for LCC until the Cougars rallied from nine points down to take the lead. But an
Emma Nelson ace clinched the set and set the tone. Nelson, also a third year player and All-American, showed why she's one of the top Liberos in the conference with 21 digs.
As always the Devils got solid play from the setters. Super sophomore
Amanda Holm led the way with 25 assists and two digs. Freshman
Ashley Noah also had a solid match with 17 assists, four digs and an ace.
Up front,
Josie Dew had nine kills and two blocks but she was far from alone up there. LCC had a tremendous 5 for 5.Â
Emily Borgstedt,
Katy Cooper,
Angela Sullivan and
Kiana Robertson had five kills each.
Olivia Kelzenberg had four kills and four blocks.Â
Jazzy Golly also contributed two kills, two blocks and two digs.
Dessa Cooper had a dig as the Devils got to work on many different combinations and everybody got a chance to get out on the floor.
The one exception was
Jayden Foster who missed the game with a high ankle sprain.
The Devils are 1-0 and they will be back on the floor Tuesday August 31 at Linn Benton. The match in Albany, Oregon will begin at 1:00 pm.Â
