Devils Sweep Season Series With Highline

The Lower Columbia College Red Devil volleyball team did not look ahead.  Instead they looked across the net and defeated the Highline T-Birds in three sets on Wednesday May 12th.

LCC set the tone right away by taking the first set 25-15.  Highline came back strong but the Devils won the second set 25-22.  Down early in the third set, LCC made a quick turnaround and won going away 25-11 to complete the 3-0 sweep.

Speaking of turnarounds, LCC is set up for a big showdown at Pierce on Thursday, less than 24 hours after the Highline win.

Camryn Wilson had nine kills to lead the balanced Devil net attack.  Wilson also had 10 digs.

Earlier in the day, Emma Nelson was named the AVCA National Defensive Player of the Week.  She put those skills on display against Highline with 21 digs.

Zoe Naugle also had a special day as she signed her National Letter of Intent with the University of Providence.  Naugle then went out and collected five blocks against the T-Birds.

Kaylee Barnum had a big third set and finished with seven kills.

Jayden Foster had six kills and Josie Dew had five.

The double threat setting duo of Karsyn Zaragoza (16 assists) and Amanda Holm (12 assists) were making things run smooth.

The Devils are now 9-1 on the season and they take on the Pierce team that gave them their only loss of the season.  Pierce and LCC both won at the others home gym so the Devils are hoping that trend continues on Thursday.
