Game Recap: Softball |

The Devils Were Flying In Sweep Over T-Birds

The Lower Columbia College softball team stayed undefeated, as the offense spread its wings in a double header sweep over Highline on Saturday May 1st.

The Devils are now 14-0 after defeating Highline 12-3 (6 innings) in the first game and 10-4 in the second game.

There were so many hitting stars for LCC.

Kinzey Williams set up the fireworks all day long as she went 6-8 at the plate.

In the first game, Jade Behic hit a first inning homer and then took care of business in the circle going all six innings to get the victory.  Behic struck out seven T-Birds.

Kaylee Barnum hit a mammoth moon shot in the second inning.  The Devs scored four runs in the 5th highlighted by RBI doubles from Katelyn McGough and Karsyn Zaragoza.  Mallory Brown added a two-run single and LCC was up 6-1.

McGough hit a two-run opposite field blast in the sixth, her 9th long ball of the season.  Brown added another two-run single and Taylor Alto hit an RBI double to pad the lead at 12-1.  Brown ended up going 3 for 4 with four RBI's.

And she wasn't done and neither were the Devils.

In the second game, Ada Williams got the party started with a two-run oppo homer making it 2-0 before starter Tatum Guzman took the circle.

Guzman did the job going the distance with three strikeouts and just one free pass.

McGough did it again in the third with a homer that went over the scoreboard. It was her 10th homer of the season and the second of the day.  Barnum was not to be outdone as she followed with a three-run shot, her second dinger of the day.

Saydie Harris doubled in the fifth and then came home on a Barnum single.  Ada Williams hit her second homer of the game and Brown then hit her first collegiate homer after that.

The Devils will have to hope the bats stay hot despite not being able to play another game for two weeks.  Next Wednesday's scheduled game with Grays Harbor has been canceled due to Choker protocols.  The next scheduled game with Centralia on May 12th might also be a no-go as the Blazers have paused due to just eight players available.  LCC may try and schedule some additional games but right now the next one is Saturday May 15th at home against Pierce.

For the Devils, stay tuned and stay hot!
