The Lower Columbia College volleyball team came up with a somewhat surprising sweep at Pierce on Thursday April 8th.
The confident Red Devils knew they could win against the tough Raiders, but even they were a bit surprised they could do so in three straight sets. Every set was close and competitive. The final counts were 25-21, 25-19 and 26-24.
Zoe Naugle was impressive at the net with six blocks and eight kills.
Camryn Wilson was outstanding all around as she had nine kills, 10 digs, two aces and a block.Â
Kaylee Barnum also had nine kills on the night.
The setter duo of
Karsyn Zaragoza and
Amanda Holm were effective. Holm had 18 assists and Zaragoza tallied nine assists.
Jayden Foster had six kills and a block,
Angela Sullivan tallied three kills and a block and
Josie Dew helped the cause with three kills and a block.
The Devils showed mental toughness as they rallied from down 0-4 in the third set to rally for the victory.
LCC is 3-0 on the season including back-to-back wins over NWAC powers Highline and Pierce. Next up is another top-notch opponent in the Tacoma Titans. The match will take place Wednesday April 14th, 7 pm at Myklebust Gym.Â
