The Lower Columbia College volleyball team got off to a blazing start and then turned away an expected challenge from Tacoma, taking the match 3-1 on Wednesday April 14th.
LCC led 8-0 to start the match and never looked back in a 25-9 set one victory. The Titans came back with avengeance, winning the second set 25-18. The third set was a classic with both teams trading punches. The Devils outlasted TCC 29-27 in that set. LCC won the set four clincher 25-18.
The Devils were playing without
Karsyn Zaragoza and
Kaylee Barnum who were helping the LCC softball team take two games in Aberdeen.Â
Amanda Holm took over most of the setting chores and she did a great job with 23 assists and 12 digs.
Emma Nelson had some amazing work near the floor with 34 digs.
Zoe Naugle was outstanding at the net with 13 kills and nine blocks.
Jayden Foster's kill total was the same as her number seven jersey.
Camryn Wilson was doing her usual overall excellence with 11 kills and 18 digs.
Every Red Devil available played at least two sets and they all contributed, some in roles they weren't used to. It was a great effort.
Tacoma was led by Britt Vaughn who had 17 kills and 18 digs.
LCC is now on top of the West Division with a 4-0 record.Â
Carri Smith's team will host Centralia Wednesday April 21 at 7 pm.
