Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Frustrating Friday In Home Tie With Pierce

The Lower Columbia women's soccer team outshot Pierce 19-7 and had five corner kicks to the Raiders one.  Despite dominating possession and controlling most of the match it ended in a 0-0 tie on Friday April 23rd at Northlake Field.

There were some late drama as Pierce was awarded a penalty kick with one minute left, but it was turned away and the scoreless tie was in the books.

Kyla Pires played goalie in the first half and Jade Cox took over in the second half.  Both combined on the clean sheet.  Pires had four saves and Cox had two.

But the Devils had opportunity after opportunity and just couldn't find the net.  "We like to invite teams to press us", said head coach Joe Chicks.  "Pierce sat a little deeper and when there is a lot more compact defense it's hard to score goals.  We had tons of chances. We just didn't take them.  Games are won and lost in the boxes. We kept the clean sheet, we just didn't finish."

Jerika Isaacson had five shots and Marissa Moyle had four.

The Devils drop to 0-3-2 on the season. The next action is Friday April 30th as the team hosts Centralia in a 4 pm match at Northlake Field.
