The Lower Columbia College baseball team swept a double header from Grays Harbor in a sun splashed Sunday afternoon at Story Field.

By completing back-to-back sweeps over Tacoma and Grays Harbor April 17
th and 18
th, the Devils are in first place in the Western Region with a record of 9-1.

In the first game Sunday, LCC blew open a tight game by scoring four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and went on to a 7-3 victory.

Griffin Henry got the start and the victory by going five innings scattering seven hits and allowing just two runs. Henry struck out nine and walked just one batter.

Kyle Fitzgerald gave up one run in two innings of work and
Brody Merritt closed it out with two innings of hitless relief including three strikeouts.

The Devils offense was kept in check.Â
Eric Luchies did lead the way by going 2 for 3 with a double and two RBI's.
Â
Tyler Reese had two hits including an RBI double.
Â
After a scoreless first inning in the second game, LCC jumped out with two runs in the second frame and three in the third.

Daniel Furman went 3 for 3 with two doubles and an RBI to pace the Devils offense.

Nic Iliyn went 2 for 3 at the plate. Luchies had a 1 for 2 day including a double.

Dylan Jester also drove in runs for Lower Columbia.

Michael Callia Jr. went five innings to get the win. He scattered seven hits, allowed one earned run, struck out five and walked just one.

Cole Bertram closed out the seven inning game with two innings of relief. He stemmed a Grays Harbor rally after the Chokers had scored three runs in the sixth, collecting the save.

The Devils will try and keep things going strong when they travel to Wheeler Field for a twin bill at Centralia on Saturday April 24
th. The first game starts at 1:00 pm. The two teams will then meet at Story Field on Sunday April 25
th for a double header at 12:00 pm.
