The Lower Columbia men's basketball team used some Royalty to ride a big second half to victory.
Sherman Royal III scored 20 points to lead the Red Devils to an 83-69 victory over the Grays Harbor Chokers. The freshman from Lake Worth, Florida hit 8 of 11 shots including 1 for 2 from distance.
Ky-mani Pollard also got the Devils going with some exciting floor play running the fastbreak. Pollard scored 12 points, had eight assists and pulled four rebounds.
Down 5-0 at the outset, the Devils settled down and took a four point lead at halftime.
The second half was a different story. The defense played excellent defense and caused the Chokers to turn the ball over 21 times. LCC had 13 turnovers.
Taylor Pomeroy had another solid game with 18 points
"The team got stops in the second half and that led to some transition buckets", said head coach
Mickey Polis. "Defense is what makes it go for us."
Dawson Fritz provided some of that defense and he also came up with nine points.
Logan Grabenhorst got an opportunity with the Devils in control and he came through with eight points.Â
Marlon Lundgren-Garcia had five points ande six rebounds.
Logan Walker led Grays Harbor with 16 points.
The Devils (2-0) will host Tacoma on Tuesday April 20th. The game time is at 7:30 pm at Myklebust Gym.
