It wasn't always pretty to watch but the Lower Columbia men's basketball team came together in the end to defeat Clark College 87-77 on Thursday, December 2, at the O'Connell Sports Center in Vancouver.
The Devils were consistent in hitting shots and rebounding the ball, shooting 47% in the first and 46% in second half, while pulling down 29 rebounds as a team.
The Devils were also solid at the line with 83% free throw shooting, hitting 20-24 freebies.
The Devils largest lead of the game was 11 at the 11 minute mark of the first half but Clark got hot and was hitting almost everything they put up. The Penguins had 54% FG shooting in the first half and rallied to a 45-45 tie at the half.
The second half was back and forth as Clark briefly took the lead but the Devils stayed composed and forced 11 Clark turnovers in the second half. The Devils finished on a 10-2 run to close out the game and hit six straight free throws inside the final two minutes.
Sherman Royal III lead the way for the Red Devils with 18 points.
Kyle Gruhler came off the bench to put up 14 points.
Keylin Vance also came off the bench to score 13 points.
Ky-mani Pollard had 13 points, five boards and five steals.
Dakota Reber added nine points and
Solomon Campbell contributed 5 points and 9 rebounds.
