(Longview, WA) – The Lower Columbia College men's basketball team played the Yakima Valley Yaks in the championship game of the 34
th Red Devil Classic on Sunday November 28
th.
For LCC, the first 25 minutes were pretty good. The final 15 minutes? No so much.
The Yaks rallied from 10 points down in the second half to defeat the Red Devils going away 88-72.
Godwin Ilumoka came off the bench to score 20 points to lead the way for Yakima Valley. The Yaks had 37 points from non-starters.
Up 50-40 with 13 minutes left, the Devils went into a spin where the Yaks took control and raced to a 16 point victory.
Ky-mani Pollard and
Dakota Reber each had 13 points to lead Lower Columbia.
Sherman Royal III had 12 points and nine rebounds.
Emanuel Steward also had 12 points.
Despite the disappointing second half, the Devils still took two-of-three in the tournament and raised their record to 3-1.
Lower Columbia will travel to Vancouver for a game with the Clark Penguins on Thursday December 2
nd. The game will begin at 8 pm. The LCC women's team will also be at Clark for a 6 pm start prior to the men's game.
