Red Devils Go 3-0 in Pendleton

Red Devils women's basketball got the 2021-22 season off to a good start last weekend at the Red Lion Invitational in Pendleton, OR, hosted by Blue Mountain Community College. 

Game one for the Devils was on Friday, November 19, vs the North Idaho Cardinals. 
North Idaho held up to the Devils pressure and went shot for shot in the first half. The Cardinals had a 26-23 lead going into the half but the Devils never backed down and came out shooting after the break. In the 4th quarter the Devils shot 75% from the line and were 2-2 from the three point line with a 75% FG percentage. This gave the Devils the largest lead of the game, 17 pts, with 3:42 to go in the 4th. LCC went on to win 61-50 over the Cardinals. 

Jazlynn Novelli led the Devils with 14 pts and 6 rbs. Danica Schmidt put 10 pts and pulled down 11 boards. 

Saturday, November 20, was game two vs the host school, Blue Mountain. Lower Columbia once again came out aggressive on defense pressuring the Timberwolves into 34 turnovers in the game. The Devils controlled the game from the start and never looked back. As a team the Devils had 23 steals, 38 rebounds, and were 15-20 from the free throw line.

Novelli led the Devils again with 12 pts and 5 rbs. Katelynn Forner had 11 pts, 5 rbs, and 3 ast. Schmidt also put up 11 pts and pulled down 6 rbs. Jodi Noyes added 11pts as well. Ally Harman put up 8 pts, 5 rbs, and 4 ast.

The third and final game for the Devils was on Sunday, November 21, vs the Yakima Valley Yaks. 

LCC shot 38% from the floor, 21% from beyond the arc and 83% from the line. The Red Devils were up 38-18 at the half and finished the day with a 75-59 victory over the Yaks. The Devils had 48 points of the bench with Chinedu Nnadi leading the way with 18 pts, 3 rbs, and 3 steals. Noyes put up 14 pts and pulled in 9 rbs with 2 ast and a steal.  Freshman guard Kamelai Powell was strong off the bench with 10 pts and 2 rbs.

The team will have a short break and then will be back in action on Thursday, December 2, at Clark College. Game is set to start at 6:00 pm in Vancouver and will be broadcast by Clark on the NWAC Sports Network at nwacsportsnetwork.com.

The first home game for the Red Devils will be on Friday, December 10, vs the Columbia Basin Hawks.
