For the second time this season, the Lower Columbia College women's team gave up 68 points in a loss to Centralia.
Â
And like the earlier 68-53 loss to the Blazers in Longview, the Devils again struggled to shoot the ball. On Wednesday February 5
th, Centralia completed the league sweep over LCC with a 68-57 win.
Â
The LCC shooting percentage was even worse this time around. The Devils shot 33 percent from the floor and 35 percent from distance. The struggles did not show up at the foul line as LCC hit 10 of 12 free throws for 83 percent.
Â
Lower Columbia was ahead of their league rivals by 11 points with 6:26 left in the second quarter. But the Blazers rallied to get within two, 26-24 at halftime.
Â
Centralia took a 12 point cushion the third quarter, but LCC didn't fold and got the game within four heading into the 4
th quarter. Down one with 3:12 left, the Devils saw the Blazers go on a 9-0 run to end the game.
Â
Cherita Daugherty led LCC with 16 points, four rebounds and nine assists. Daugherty went 8-8 from the free throw line.Â
Madison Mosier was the only other LCC scorer in double figures as she had 10 points.
Â
Tommia Pakootas scored nine and
Michaela Harris and
Josie Schmitz had six each.
Â
The Blazers went 11-24 from long distance (46%). Megan Cash led Centralia with 18 points. Caitlyn Yenne had 15 and Lindsey Nurmi had 12 off the bench.
Â
The Devils slip to 6-2 in the West while Centralia takes control of the division at 8-0. Although the teams won't face each other again in league play, there is still a lot of basketball yet to be played.
Â
The Devils will host Highline Saturday February 8
th at 5 pm.
