The Lower Columbia women's basketball team did not have any road jitters on Wednesday January 22
nd. The Devils jumped out to a 29-9 lead after the first quarter and took care of Green River 93-44 at the Swamp in Auburn.
Jodi Noyes fueled the fast start by hitting four first quarter buckets. She ended up with a team-high 16 points on 8 for 11 shooting. Noyes also pulled five rebounds.
Green River actually outscored LCC 18-15 in the second quarter but that was the only highlight for the Gators. LCC cruised to the win to up the LCC West Region mark to 4-1, 13-7 overall.
Melenaite Kata was effective in the post with 12 points and eight rebounds. Mel was 5 for 8 from the floor and 2 for 2 from the free throw line.
No other Red Devils scored in double figures, but all 13 players scored at least two points. Head coach
Lucas Myers did a great job of balancing minutes with the contest decided early. "With some of these division games, we have to take the approach that it's about us and not our opponent", he said. "Our 10 freshman are going to get plenty of playing time and that will help us come playoff time and certainly for next season."
Michaela Harris and
Tommia Pakootas had nine each.
Chinedu Nnadi and
Madeline Jacobson had eight points each.
Madison Bosik led the Gators with 16.
