Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Opportunities For All In Blowout Win

The Lower Columbia College women's basketball team managed a mismatch by giving plenty of playing time to all, especially the freshman off the bench who are gaining confidence in the college game.

This one was over before it began as the Red Devils defeated Grays Harbor 92-16 on Saturday January 18th.  The Chokers led 2-0 then reality set in.

Tommia Pakootas went 6 for 10 from three-point range, scoring a game high 21 points. It was a college career high for Pakootas.

Fellow freshman Danica Schmidt was 8 for 12 from the floor on the way to scoring 17 points. She just missed a double-double with nine rebounds.

No LCC starter logged over 19 minutes and Red Devil MVP candidate Cherita Daugherty played just seven minutes, because, well, it just wouldn't have been fair.

Melenaite Kata played well with 10 points and six rebounds.

The Devils go to 3-1 in West Region plays as they get ready to travel to Auburn for a game at Green River on Wednesday January 22nd.  Tip off is at 6 pm.

The game can be heard live on FM 100.7 KLOG in the Longview-Kelso area.  The radio broadcast will also be streamed live on klog.com.
