Devils Bounce Back With Road Win at Highline

The Lower Columbia women's basketball team didn't have a lot of time to anguish over a West Region league play loss at home to Centralia.  The Devils got on the bus for a 12 noon game at Highline on Saturday January 11th and they came away with a big road victory.

A balanced scoring attack and contributions from all of the Red Devil players led to a 64-40 victory over the Thunderbirds.

Danica Schmidt was the only LCC player to score in double-figures. The freshman from Alaska had 10 points and four rebounds.

Although the Devils continued to struggle shooting the ball (35%), they turned up the defense and held the T-Birds to just 28 percent shooting.  LCC also out rebounded Highline 50-34.

Superior depth was a key as the Devils bench outscored Highline 36-13.  Madeline Jacobson had eight points off the bench and Michaela Harris and Melenaite Kata had six each in a reserve role.

Starter Jodi Noyes had six points and six rebounds.  Cherita Daugherty scored seven points with five rebounds and four steals.

The Devils even up the West Region mark at 1-1 as they get ready for back-to-back home games.  South Puget Sound comes to Longview on Wednesday January 15th for a 6 pm tip.  Grays Harbor then visits Myklebust Gym on Saturday January 18th for a 5 pm start.
