Devils Get Out of Thunderdome With a Victory

Any time you can get out of Highline with a road victory, it's big!

Every Red Devil who played in the game got into the scoring column as Lower Columbia defeated Highline 74-65 on Saturday January 11th in Des Moines.

LCC led 35-23 at halftime and then staved off several T-Birds rallies to get the victory to raise the West Region record to 2-0.

The NWAC's leading rebounder Samaad Hector led the way with 11 boards to go along with 11 points.  Hector is averaging a conference high 14.5 caroms per game.  It was also Hector's 16th double-double in 17 games.

Sophomore point guard Cody Young had 11 points against the T-Birds.  Alexis Angeles also scored in double figures with 10 points.

With the Thunderbirds trying to grab some second half momentum, Taylor Pomeroy hit three huge three pointers that kept the Devils in charge of the lead. Pomeroy had nine points and made three of his four three-point attempts.

Jonah Crumpton-Murray had seven points and Amiri Chukwuemeka and Rarey Sommer had six points each.

Thunderbirds leading scorer Mahlik Hall had 36 points including 15-17 from the free throw line.

The Devils will have a pair of home games this week as South Puget Sound pays a visit on Wednesday January 15th. The game is slated to start at 8 pm.  Grays Harbor then visits Longview on Saturday January 18th for a 7 pm tip off.
