Penalty Kick Leads To Draw With Pierce

Jessica Jude of the LCC soccer team hit a penalty kick in 91st minute leading Lower Columbia to a 1-1 draw with the Pierce Raiders

Lower Columbia arrived at Heritage Park in Puyallup, WA on Saturday, September 28, with a battered and sick team. With all Red Devil goal keepers unable to play because of injury, sophomore transfer Arianna Siuda stepped into the box and proved to be up to the challenge with four saves on the day. The lone Raiders goal came at the 15' when Siuda blocked a shot and Raiders forward Tatyana Johnson hit the rebound shot.

The Red Devils defense stayed solid the rest of the match and held off the Pierce challenges. Lower Columbia was aggressive on the offensive side of the ball and out shot the Raiders 6-5.

Pierce was overly aggressive at times drawing 11 fouls to LCC's 4 with the big one coming in the 91' when LCC's Areeana Long was fouled hard inside the Pierce goal box. This lead to the Jude penalty kick.

Raiders Midfielder Camryn Rowe was issued a yellow card at the 39'.

The Red Devils will play a non-league match on Monday, September 30, at Linfield College in McMinnville, OR. Game is set to start at 4:00 pm.

The next league match is Saturday, October 7, in Centralia, WA vs the Centralia Trailblazers.
