Red Devils Soccer took the pitch against non-league opponent Portland Community College on Wednesday, September 25 in what turned out to be a defensive battle. Unfortunately, the Devils fell just short, final score was PCC 1 LCC 0.
The Devils came out aggressive but were unable to keep the ball on the offensive, outshot by the Panthers 10-3. Portland also had seven corner kicks, while the Devils had none. The lone goal of the game came from a Portland corner kick at 11:41 in the first half.  The corner bounced around in front of the Devils goal one too many times and Portland forward Katerina DeVassie got a foot on it.
The Devils defense held strong in the second half holding Portland scoreless but the offense continued to struggle.
LCC goalie
Leayssa Murray had 5 saves.
Danika Stacey got off two shots before having to come out with an injury.
Elizabeth Aceveda had the Devils other shot.
LCC returns to league play with a road match at Pierce College on Saturday, September 28, at 12:00 pm. The next home match for the Devils will be on Wednesday, October 9, vs the Green River Gators.
