Game Recap: Baseball |

Devils go 3-1 over Spring Break

Devils baseball went 3-1 in their first four games of NWAC West play.

On March 30, LCC defeated the Centralia Trailblazers 15-0. The Devils banged out 15 hits and committed only 1 error. Trevor Paro went 3 for 3 and GJ Hurst and Colin Floyd both went 3 for 4.

Mitch Lines got the win on 5 innings of work with 8 strike outs, 3 walks and only allowed 3 hits. Rance Pittman came in the 5th inning, striking out 4 with no hits in his 2 innings on the mound.

The Devils then traveled to Tacoma on March 31st to face the Tacoma Titans. The Devils put the first run on the board in the 2nd inning off a Drew Barlow single, but that would be the only run that LCC managed to plate.

Tacoma answered with a run in the bottom of the 3rd off a Justin VanDeBrak single. Then in the 6th the Titans bats came alive, scoring 5 runs on 5 hits. The Devils were unable to take advantage of opportunities leaving 7 runners stranded in the games. Final score: Tacoma 7 LCC 1. Justin Solt took the loss.

Next up for the Devils was a trip to Aberdeen on April 4 to play the Grays Harbor Chokers. Lower Columbia came out swinging, putting up 9 runs on 10 hits in a 9-1 win over the Chokers. Noah Andrews went 3 for 5 with 2 RBIs, Shane Jamison went 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs and a walk, Colin Floyd went 1 for 4, hitting a grand slam. Kaden Vanderwerf was the winning pitcher putting in 5.2 innings.

The Devils finished out the week back at home vs the Pierce Raiders, a thrilling 13-inning, 1-0 win for Lower Columbia. Pitching for both teams was on point has the Raiders combined for 16 strikeouts, 2 walks and 6 hits. Devils pitchers Mitch Lines and Justin Solt combined for 12 strikeouts, 1 walk and 7 hits. Solt got the win.

The play of the game came in the top of the 13th when Noah Andrews caught a fly ball in center field and fired a bullet to home where LCC catcher Zach Threlfall tagged out Pierce's Austin Eisenmenger at the plate for the inning-ending double play. Andrews then hit the walk-off single to score Trevor Paro from second in the bottom of the 13th.

The Devils will play the final single game of the season on Tuesday, April 9 at home vs the Green River Gators. First pitch is set for 7:00 pm. Saturday, April 13 LCC will play a double header at Centralia, 1:00 pm first pitch.
