The Lower Columbia College baseball team is in a bit of a funk offensively but they were still able to take three of four games against Centralia.

The four game set began Friday afternoon as the teams moved up the game a day to take advantage of better weather. Wheeler Field was deemed unplayable, so the teams agreed to play at Story Field with Centralia as the home team. The Devils won both games on April 12
th by scores of 11-2 and 5-1.

In the first game Friday, it appeared the offensive issues were solved. LCC pounded out 16 hits against five Blazer pitchers.
Shane Jamison and
GJ Hurst led the way, both going 3 for 5 at the plate. Jamison had three doubles and drove in two runs. Hurst scored three runs.

Chase Matheny hit a two-run homer and also walked twice.Â
Noah Andrews,
Colin Floyd and
DeShawn Johnson had two hits each.

Mitch Lines went seven innings to get the victory. The sophomore right hander scattered six hits and gave up two runs. Mikey Callia Jr. went two scoreless inning allowing just two hits.

In the second game Friday, Devil starter
Justin Solt was dominating but found himself behind 1-0 until LCC exploded for five runs in the sixth inning. Solt went five frames and allowed just a single, striking out 11.Â
Dakota Hawkins closed it out with two perfect innings, striking out five Trailblazers.

Andrews was 3 for 4 with two doubles and two RBI's. Matheny got LCC on the scoreboard in the fateful sixth by tying the game with an RBI single.Â
Trevor Paro followed up with a clutch two-run double followed by Andrews two-run double.

After Saturday off, the two teams returned to Story Field on Sunday. The Devils ran into Blazer starter Josh Myer who twirled eight shutout innings leading Centralia to a 3-0 victory. The Devils could muster just five hits against Myer.

Yancy Bird went four innings, allowing three hits and two runs. Freshman lefty
Alex Brady was solid out of the bullpen going five innings allowing three hits and one run with four strikeouts.

LCC closed out the weekend with a 10-1 victory despite just collecting six hits. Seven Blazer pitchers combine to walk nine Red Devils creating traffic.
Meanwhile,
Kaden Vanderwerf was outstanding in his first college start. The freshman righty went six innings allowing just three hits, one run, one walk and eight strikeouts.
Rance Pittman pitched a clean inning in the 7th.

Drew Barlow was the only Devil with two hits. Matheny and
Jhamante Woods hit doubles. LCC blew it open with five runs in the 5
th propelled by Centralia wildness.

LCC is now two games behind first place Tacoma but with a chance to make up ground this weekend. The two teams meet in a 1 pm Friday double header at TCC then turnaround for two games at Story Field on Saturday at 1 pm.

LCC is 7-2 in league and 20-7 overall.
