The Lower Columbia College softball team took two games from Grays Harbor on Tuesday April 9
th at Tam O'Shanter Park. LCC head coach
Traci Fuller called it a "great team effort".
The Devils won the first game 8-0 behind the three-hit shutout of freshman
Trinity Naugle. Naugle struck out just one batter, but she didn't allow a walk and used her teammates defense to cruise through the Choker lineup.
LCC had three homers in the game.
Sarah Potwin, Valeti Fafita and
Lauren Lunt each hit solo long balls. All three had two hits in the game.
Sophia Parsons got the offense kick started with a two-run double in the first inning.
Allie Hall had two hits and an RBI.
Nizhoni Wheeler took to the circle in the second game and she also went the distance, giving up just three hits in a 9-1 victory. "Nones" also did not allow a walk and she struck out two.
Parsons triggered the five inning mercy rule when she hit a grand slam in the second inning, an eight run frame.
Allie Hall,
Kami Gray and
Skylar Hunter each had RBI doubles in the fateful second.
The Devils raise their South Region record to 8-4 with their fourth straight victory. LCC is 15-6 overall.
LCC will host Chemeketa in a rain make-up twin bill on Thursday April 11
th. First pitch is slated for 3:00 pm.
Looming is a huge home double header with Centralia on Saturday April 13
th. Note the start time is 4:00 pm at Tam O'Shanter Park.
