The Lower Columbia College softball team opened up league play by falling behind Grays Harbor 1-0 after one inning.

The Chokers would score just one more run on the day and it took them nine innings to get it.

After the early wake up call, the Devils would go on to take two from Grays Harbor 14-1 and 7-1.

In the first game on Saturday March 16
th in Aberdeen, LCC starting pitcher
Trinity Naugle would settle down and put up five scoreless innings. Naugle got the victory allowing six hits with nine strikeouts.

Leading 3-1 after three innings, LCC blew it open with six runs in the 4
th and five runs in the 5
th leading to the mercy-rule win.

Skylar Hunter went 3 for 3 with two doubles, two RBI's and three runs scored in the lead-off spot.

Lauren Lunt went 1 for 3 with a homer and three RBI's.Â
Sarah Potwin also went deep as part of her 3 for 3 game with an RBI.

Kaylee Strahan was 3 for 4 with a ribbie.Â
Sophia Parsons went 3 for 3 with two RBI'sÂ
Ellie Conley also went 2 for 4 with two RBI's.

The Devils pounded out 17 hits in the first game.

The second game marked the season pitching debut of
Nizhoni Wheeler. Fresh off an Elite Eight season with the LCC basketball team, Wheeler went seven solid innings allowing five hits and one run. "Nones" struck out eight and walked just two.

Hunter stayed hot with three more hits in the nightcap.Â
Sariah Payne was 2 for 3 with two RBI's.Â
Tera Geimer collected two hits and two RBI's.

Valeti Fifita had two hits and two RBI's for LCC.

The Devils are 9-2-1 on the season. They return to South Region play for a 12 pm double header at Centralia on Saturday March 23
rd. The action is at Fort Borst Park in Centralia.
