The Lower Columbia College baseball team was able to hold on for dear life and salvage a split with Clackamas on a cold, rainy night on Tuesday March 12
th.

The Cougars scored six runs in the 6
th inning to beat LCC 8-5 in the opener. LCC bounced back for a 7-6 win in the nightcap.

Clackamas was holding on to a 3-2 lead after five innings in the opener. That's when the flood gates opened up as the Cougars scored six runs on two HBP's, three walks and two base hits in the 6
th frame.

Shane Jamison hit a two run homer for LCC in the first inning and he would later add an RBI single in the third.Â
Jhamante Woods slapped an RBI single in the 4
th.Â
Drew Barlow collected a two-run double in the 9
th.

Starter
Quinlan Hayes went five innings in his first college start. Hayes gave up three runs on three hits with two walks and three strikeouts.Â
Nick Jennings struggled with his control and didn't record an out in the 6
th.Â
Michael Callia Jr. bounced back with a good outing as he tossed four innings of three-hit, shutout ball. Callia also struck out four.

In the second game the Devils jumped out to a 4-1 lead after two innings. A first inning RBI hit by Jamison got LCC kick started.Â
Noah Andrews and
Zach Threlfall added RBI singles in the 2
nd inning.

But the Cougars bounced back with two in the third helped by a series of passed balls.

Colin Floyd's two run homer in the 6
th was the key to LCC's three run 6
th. Jamison,
Hunter Cook and Floyd all had two hits in the game.

Broc Selstrom went 2 1/3 innings in his first college start. He allowed just one hit but walked three. He gave up two earned runs and struck out four.

Rance Pittman went 4 1/3 innings allowing four hits, three runs and four K's.Â
Kaden Vanderwerf finished up with an out in the 7
th to preserve the victory.

The Devils are now 6-3 as they get ready to host Columbia Basin for two games on Friday beginning at 1:00 pm. Walla Walla comes to Story Field for an 11:00 am double header on Saturday March 16
th.
