Box Score 3 The weather was cold. The bats were hot.
The Lower Columbia softball team plated 46 runs during three games held at the RAC Complex in Lacey on Friday March 8 and Saturday March 9.
The scheduled game with Shoreline was canceled due to a flu outbreak that sickened many Dolphin players.
The pitching of
Trinity Naugle sickened the Highline bats as the freshman twirled a five-inning complete-game one-hit shutout. Naugle struck out 11 Thunderbirds as the Devils won 8-0.
Kaylee Strahan provided all the offense needed as she hit an intercontinental ballistic missile for a three run homer. Strahan was 3 for 3 with three RBI's.
Sariah Payne went 1 for 2 with two RBI's and
Sarah Potwin had an RBI single.
On Saturday, LCC destroyed Skagit Valley 33-12. There were many hitting stars in the rout.Â
Valeti Fifita drove in four runs with a two-run double, RBI single and a solo home run.
Sarah Russell hit her first college homer, a two-run shot.Â
Kami Gray and Potwin had two-run doubles.
It was a memorable game for LCC sophomore
Allie Hall. Asked to pitch for the first time since KSA youth ball, Hall gave up seven runs. But she got a strikeout and provided innings while the Red Devils were without the injured
Caitlyn Grogan and basketball player
Nizhoni Wheeler. Hall then came up to the plate and hit a three run homer.
The weekend finale was a close game against talented Douglas. Tied at two in the fifth, the Royals scored five runs to take the lead and eventually the game 12-5.
Gray had a pair of two-run doubles for the Devils. Fifita added an RBI double.
The Red Devils go to 7-2 on the season as they get ready to begin league play Saturday March 16th. The first game gets underway at 12 pm in Aberdeen.
