Devils Win West Championship!

The Lower Columbia women's basketball team finished with a late flourish to beat Highline 72-59 on Saturday February 23rd.

With the victory, the Devils clinched the Western Region championship.

It was a festive night as the six sophomores were honored prior to the game.  Nizhoni Wheeler, Kenya Lorton, Shasta Lofgren, Jerri Maluyo, Emily Packham and Mikayla Hopkins were given gift bags from the freshman and framed pictures from the athletic department.

It looked like the Devils were going to be in control the entire night, but Highline did not quit and they tied up the game at 59-59 with three minutes left.  The T-Birds would not score again.  The Devils went on 13-0 run to end the game and capture the division flag.

Nizhomi Wheeler had a great game with 24 points.  Madeline Jacobson had 14 points off the bench.  Maluyo had seven points, six boards, 10 assists and three steals.

Packham had eight points with five rebounds.  Lorton had five points, seven rebounds and five assists.  Lofgren had an outstanding game with 12 points, five rebounds and five assists.

The Devils go to 11-2 in league and 19-9 overall.  LCC takes the division title in the first year for Lucas Myers as the head coach.
