Playing on their home court, the Clackamas Cougars remained undefeated with an 84-73 win over Lower Columbia on Thursday. A 17-1 run by the Cougars, over a six-minute stretch of the second half, was the difference.
The loss drops Lower Columbia to 11-2 on the season. The Red Devils will play their sixth game in eight days on Friday, meeting Southwestern Oregon at 11:00 a.m. in Oregon City at the NWAC Clackamas crossover.
Clackamas led early on Thursday and took a 47-40 advantage into halftime. With 15.52 left in the game LCC's
Louden Wardius hit a pair of free throws to draw the Devils within 54-49.
But over the next 6:55 the Red Devils scored just one point, on a
Taylor Pomeroy freebie. In that same stretch the Cougars scored 17 points to go ahead 71-50 and sealed the win.
Freshman
Jonah Crumpton-Murray had his best game as a Red Devil, coming off the bench to play 20 minutes and score 14 points, grab four boards and dish two assists.
Martis Johnson also scored 14 for LCC.
Samaad Hector scored nine points and grabbed 11 boards.
Cody Young chipped in seven points and had seven assists.
Clackamas, now 8-0 on the season, was paced by Donavan Tafua with 18 points.
