Bigfoot Three Peats At Red Devil Classic

The Spokane Sasquatch are liking their Thanksgiving trips to Longview.

Spokane defeated Lower Columbia 67-62 on Sunday December 1st in Longview to win the 33rd Red Devil Classic. It was the third straight RD Classic championship for the Sasquatch.

Led by the 16 points from tourney MVP Garrett White, Spokane was able to take advantage of LCC miscues and turnovers down the stretch in a close game.  Austin White hit four big free throws in the final minute.  When he missed one, Spokane was able to get the offensive rebound.

LCC made Garrett White work hard for his 16 as Mickey Polis ordered a double-team early and then put Travis Patrick on him other times.  White was held much below his season scoring average of 27.6 per game.

Patrick had nine points, four rebounds, three steals, two assists and a block.

Samaad Hector had another great came for LCC as he had 16 points and 15 rebounds.  Hector just missed the Red Devil Classic rebounding record with 48 in the three games.  Brian Freeman of Clackamas had 49 rebounds in the 2006 tournament.

Both Patrick and Hector were named to the All-Tournament team.

Martis Johnson had 12 points and six rebounds.

Down by 12 points mid way through the first half, the Devils got a spark when Taylor Pomeroy hit two threes to close the game.  LCC was down 32-31 at the half.

It was the first loss of the season for Lower Columbia as they are now 5-1 on the season with two home games the first week of December.  LCC will host Portland on Wednesday December 4th at 7 pm and then will host Clark Saturday December 7th at 5 pm.
