The Lower Columbia men's basketball season opened with a victory as the Red Devils defeated Bellevue 80-70 in an afternoon game on Saturday November 16th.
The Devils jumped out to a 9-0 lead and then withstood a Bellevue run that actually had the Bulldogs up by one in the first half. Lower Columbia was able to regain control and take a 42-34 lead into the intermission. LCC outscored Bellevue 38-36 in the second half.
The game was sloppy at times as both teams appeared to be amped up to finally get the season underway.
Sophomore point guard
Cody Young had a solid game for the Devils with 15 points, three assists, four rebounds and two blocks. Young went three-for-four from three point range.
Despite playing with foul trouble,
Samaad Hector 16 points and 14 rebounds.
Sophomnore transfer
Alexis Angeles was a steadying influence for the Devils with 18 points, including six-for-seven at the free throw line.
Martis Johnson had nine points, eight rebounds, two assists and two steals before leaving the game with a sore ankle.
Travis Patrick had eight points and three boards off the bench.
Trevon Richmond led all scorers with 28 points for the Bulldogs.
Lower Columbia (1-0) is back home for a 5:00 pm game against the Multnomah JV's on Wednesday November 20th.
