Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Devils will enter NWAC Championships as the third seed in the west.

The Thunderbirds, Red Devils, match on Wednesday, November 13, was an important one for determining seeding in the NWAC Volleyball Championships and both teams came ready. Unfortunately, for Lower Columbia, Highline came out on top with a 3-1 victory.
Set one started out even until the Devils went on a 9 point to go up 13-7. The Thunderbirds tried to get a run of their own but errors kept them from gaining any momentum. Lower Columbia took the first set 25-21.
The second set was a bit of an error fest as the two teams combined had 17 errors in the set with the Devils falling 25-19 to the Thunderbirds. Both teams cleaned it up a bit for the third set trading points back and forth. Lower Columbia was looking good with a 3-point swing at the end of the set to make the score 22-21 Highline, but an LCC service error and two kills by Highlines Cheyenne Whitebird gave the Thunderbirds the 25-21 set three win. The fourth set went much the same with Highline getting out to quick 6-point lead. The Devils managed to cut that lead to three but that was as close as they would get. Highline won the fourth set 25-21, to win the match and sole position of second place in the west region standings.

Ashlynn Cantwell lead the Devils with 9 kills and 8 digs. Kiana Scott and Camryn Wilson had 8 kills each. Wilson also has 19 assist and 12 digs.

With this being the last home match of the season, we took time before the start to recognize and honor our seven outstanding sophomores. Ashlynn Cantwell, Abigail Brotherton, Haley Paul, Paige Moorcroft, Karlie Hall, Desarae Reab, and Kiana Scott. These seven student-athletes have been an absolute joy to have here at Lower Columbia and we are going to miss them as they move on to continue their educations and hopefully their playing careers.

With the loss, the Devils are the third seed in west for the NWAC Volleyball Championships. This means that they will play Spokane to open the tournament on Thursday, November 21, at 9:00 am. Spokane is the number two seed out of the east with a record of 14-2 in league and 31-2 overall. Their only losses coming from the undefeated North Idaho Cardinals.
