Spokane Rallies To Complete Sweep In NWAC Opener

The NWAC volleyball championships got underway on Thursday November 21st with a matchup between the defending NWAC champion Spokane Sasquatch and the upset-minded Lower Columbia Red Devils.

Spokane jumped out to a 2-0 lead, but LCC was on the verge of a third set win to extend the match and see if momentum could be flipped.  The Red Devils had a 20-15 lead in that third set when Bigfoot got busy. Spokane took the final seven points to take a 26-24 win and a 3-0 sweep.

Set scores were 25-18, 25-20 and 26-24.

Kiana Scott led LCC with eight kills.  Zoey Naugle, Ashlynn Cantwell, Paige Moorcroft and Camryn Wilson had four kills each.  Cantwell also had 10 digs.

Wilson came up with 15 assists and Karsyn Zaragoza had eight helpers.

McKenna Russell led the Sasquatch with 12 kills including some big ones in that third set rally.

The Devils now go into survival mode as they try and keep the season alive in a loser out match with Mt. Hood Thursday night at 6:30 pm.  Whatcom swept Mt. Hood 3-0 in the first round.

The action is at the Tacoma Convention Center.
