Red Devils soccer season has not gone according to plan this year but they have shown tremendous growth over the season. This was demonstrated in their last home match of the season on Wednesday, October 30, vs the Bellevue Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs are second in the west region and have already clinched their spot in the NWAC soccer playoffs.
Lower Columbia struggled in the first half to control the ball and keep pressure on the Bulldogs, allowing them to get off 11 shots. Bellevue's first goal came at the 5' mark when forward Hannah Woten out ran the Devils defensive to hit the unassisted shot. Bellevue put up 4 more goals in the first half to end the half with a 5-0 lead.
Unfortunately, the Devils goalkeeper curse struck again as
Presley McClung was hurt saving a goal and had to leave the field for the remainder of the game. Before her injury, Presley had four saves. With the injury,
Arianna Siuda stepped in once again, has she has done most of the season, to fill the goalkeeper void. Siuda ended the game with six saves, including keeping the Bulldogs scoreless in the second half.
The second half of the match belong to the Red Devils as they put pressure on the Bulldogs at every level of the field. Bellevue struggled to adjust to LCC's changes allowing the Devils to control the ball and keep the play on their side of the field. Even with the majority of play on LCC's end of the field, the Devils were unable to get off quality shots until the 63' when Devils forward
Jessica Jude got a hold of one from just outside the goal box to ruin the Bulldogs hopes of a shutout. Â
The final score was 5-1 Bellevue
The Red Devils took time before the match to recognize our sophomore players;
Arianna Siuda,
Areeana Long,
Karen Gonzalez,
Jessica Jude,
Kalina Makaiwi,
Elizabeth Aceveda, and
Brooklyn Wurm-Wertz. These seven awesome student-athletes will be missed next season but we look forward to seeing what is in store for them in the future.

The Devils do have one more game this Friday at Green River. Â The make-up game was rescheduled to November 1 at 1:00 pm, due to thunderstorms.
