The Red Devils tried to dig out of an 0-2 hole at Highline, but an ineffective net attack led to a 3-1 road loss on Wednesday October 16th.
In a battle for second place in a key mid season match, the Thunderbirds were ready. Highline won the first two sets 25-14 and 25-13 before LCC came out of the break with a 25-23 victory to give some Devil hope. But Highline outlasted LCC 25-21 in the 4th set and came away with a 3-1 victory.
Highline had a kill percentage of .207, led by the 13 kills of Alicia Nguyen. Lower Columbia could muster just a .040 kill percentage.Â
Kiana Scott had nine kills to lead LCC.
Camryn Wilson, who was earlier named the NWAC co-setter of the week along with teammate
Karsyn Zaragoza, had 20 assists and eight digs. Zaragoza had seven assists and 17 digs.
The Devils drop to 4-2 in the West Region and 20-11 overall. Highline takes over sole possession of second with a 5-1 league mark. Pierce went through the first half of league at 6-0.
LCC will be off from competition until Wednesday October 23rd when they take on the South Puget Sound Clippers in a 7 pm match at the Evergreen State College in Olympia.Â
