The confines of Myklebust Gym have been less than friendly this season for the Lower Columbia women's basketball team. Of the Devils nine losses this season, five have come in Longview.
Tacoma came to Longview on Wednesday January 30
th and played with poise and purpose upsetting Lower Columbia 67-56.
The Titans had one of their top shooting nights, hitting 43 percent from the floor and 60 percent from beyond the arc. While Tacoma was shooting well, the frustration was obvious in the body language of the LCC team.
Despite trailing by 8 points in the third quarter, LCC mustered enough energy to regain the lead 44-42 with a minute left in the period. The lead would go away in the 4
th quarter and Tacoma won it going away, outscoring the Devils 23-12 in the period.
Nizhoni Wheeler scored 19 points to lead LCC. The sophomore post also had seven rebounds.
Emily Packham had 12 points.
But overall it was an off-night offensively as the Devils shot 36 percent from the floor and a dismal 4 for 22 from three point range (18%).
Avery Campbell led Tacoma with 20 points.
The Devils slip to 5-2 in the West and 13-9 overall. LCC will have the bye on Saturday before returning to action on Wednesday February 5
th at Green River.
Perhaps a road game can get the team back on track.
