The Devils knew Wednesday nights match up against the second place South Puget Sound Clippers was not going to be easy. Complicating things further, starting post
Dwayne Stewart was out with an ankle injury and starting guard
Seth Hall was out ill. This meant that the Devils bench need to step up and they did giving the Devils a 79-64 win over the Clippers.
LCC came out strong in the first quarter shooting 48.6% from the floor and 75% from the FT line to take a 40-37 lead at halftime. The Devils didn't let up int he second half continuing to dominate the boards. Devils out rebounded the Clippers 24-12 in the second half, overall they pulled down 45 to the Clippers 30. They also outscored the Clippers in the paint 60-22.
The Clippers tried to mount a late second half run getting to within 4 after a three from Tyke Thompson but the Devils went on an 11-0 run after that to put the Clippers away.
Travis Patrick was the top scorer for the Devils with 25 points, going 9-14 FG and 7-9 FT shooting. He also pulled down 5 rebounds and had 3 assists.
Bricin Ford stepped up big with 20 pts, 8 rbs, 5 ast and 2 blks.
Samaad Hector had his 7th double double on the year with 12 pts and 14 rbs.
Alec Canete-Hall put up 10 pts and 5 ast.
Devonte Dennis had a solid game with 8 pts, 7 rbs, 2 ast and a block.
Cacoa Chatman lead the Clippers with 16 pts, 6 rbs, 4 ast and 2 steals.
The win puts LCC in a three way tie with South Puget Sound and Pierce for third in the NWAC West Region standings.
Next up for the Devils is a trip to Des Moines, WA for a 2:00 pm game vs the Highline Thunderbirds.
