Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Huge Road Win At Pierce

The Lower Columbia College men's basketball team began climbing out of an 0-2 league hole by collecting a huge road win at Pierce on Wednesday January 16th.

The Devils snapped the Raiders eight game win streak with a 67-61 victory in Lakewood.

LCC hit big free throws in the games final two minutes to hold off the Raiders. The Devils won despite 18 turnovers.

Bricin Ford, Seth Hall and Devonte Dennis all stepped to the line with game on the line and came through.

Martis Johnson led the Devils with 16 points. The freshman came out aggressive and got LCC off to a good start following two league-opening losses at home.

The Devils got big contributions off the bench, especially from the bigs.  Ford had 12 points and eight rebounds.  Samaad Hector, who also hit some big free throws, scored 11 points and had 14 big rebounds.  He also was a force on defense with four blocked shots.

Down 4-3 in the first two minutes, the Devils took the lead and never gave it back.  LCC led by nine midway through the first half but the turnovers allowed Pierce to stay in the game.  The Devils out-rebounded Pierce 46-36 and it was the LCC bench that came through outscoring the Raiders 25-13.

Christian Davis had 21 and DJ Kearson had 20 for the Raiders.

LCC will try and get back to .500 in league when they take on the Grays Harbor Chokers in Aberdeen on Saturday January 19th.  The game begins at 4 pm and you can hear it live on FM 100.7 KLOG at 3:55 pm.
