Box Score The Lower Columbia women's soccer team opened West Region play at home on Saturday September 8th.
The Devils had an early shot at taking the lead against talented Highline. The shot clanged off the cross bar. The Thunderbirds then woke up and went on to score the first six goals on the way to a 6-1 victory over the Devils at Northlake Field.
The T-Birds dominated the action, taking a 3-0 lead at halftime and then increasing the lead to 6-0 behind two goals and an assist from Jewel Boland.
Lower Columbia avoided the shutout when
Shelby Vermulen headed in a perfect corner kick from
Sierra Thornock, a beautiful goal with two minutes left in the match.
Highline out-shot LCC 19-4.
The Devils will play the next three league games all on the road. The team will play Tacoma on Wednesday September 12 (4:00 pm) before heading to Grays Harbor and then Centralia.
The next home match will be Saturday September 22 against Bellevue at 12 pm.
