Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Volleyball wraps up pre-season with 17-4 record; 3rd place at Crossover

Red Devils volleyball hosted an 8 team NWAC Crossover to finish out the preseason this last weekend. Skagit Valley, SW Orgeon, Big Bend, Olympic, Pierce, North Idaho and Umpqua all participated.

The Devils went undefeated the first day taking down Big Bend 2-0 (25-13,25-18), SW Oregon 2-0 (25-11,25-23) and Skagit Valley 2-0 (25-17, 25-11)

Day 2 started with a rematch for the Devils against the Olympic College Rangers. The Ranger were looking for some redemption as they had lost to the Red Devils earlier that week at home. The Rangers made a game of it and took the mathc all the way to the fifth set but the Devils held strong and defeated Olympic 3-2 (25-21,25-14,24-26,23-25,15-3)

Megan Miller Lead the Devils with 15 kills hitting .480. Ashlynn Cantwell and Desarae Reab had 13 and 12 kills respectively and Cassidy Thompson put down 11 kills and 4 ace serves. Macey Wright spread things around with 50 assists and served up 5 aces.

Next up for LCC was a tough North Idaho team. Both teams came out of the gates strong but Devils were unable to get the ball around North Idahos defense. LCC took the match to 4 sets but fell 3-1 (25-22,15-25,25-18,25-17) to NIC.

Miller had 11 kills and Cantwell contributed with 9.

The loss put the Devils into the third place bracket setting up a rematch with Skagit Valley. LCC, still feeling the loss had to play right away against an reinvigorated Skagit. The Devils came out a little flat allowing Skagit to stay close but they eventually put them away 2-0 (25-23, 25-22)

The final match of the weekend for the Devils was against the Umpqua Riverhawls with third place on the line. The Devils were back to their usual form and put Umpqua away 2-0 (25-16,25-19) to take third place overall fro the crossover.
Reab led the match with 9 kills, Miller had 7 and Haley Paul had 6.

North Idaho defeated Pierce 3-1 to take the Championship.

Next up for Lower Columbia is Centralia College at Centralia to start the regular season. The match is set for a 7:00 pm start. The first regular season home match for the Devils is September 26 vs Tacoma at 7:00 pm.
