The Lower Columbia College women's basketball team's loss at home to Highline last month has stuck in its craw.
The Devils got some measure of revenge when they beat the Thunderbirds in Des Moines 79-42 on Saturday February 24th.
Tywanna Abbott led the Devils with 17 points and five rebounds, but she suffered a knee injury in the second half. The sophomore from Hawaii will undergo further examination to determine the extent of the injury.
Kenya Lorton came off the Red Devil bench for 16 points and four assists.
Shanay Dotson scored 13 points.Â
Nizhoni Wheeler had 10 points and nine rebounds.
Other Devils with solid numbers in the boxscore included
Hayley Niles with eight points and 10 boards,
Cherita Daugherty with five points, 10 rebounds and four assists and
Madison Crews with eight points, four rebounds, three assists and four steals.
Sharon Ajayi led Highline with 23 points and 14 rebounds.
The Devils record is now 21-8 overall and 11-2 in the West Region. LCC has clinched the number two spot in the division, but still has a chance to get a share of the league title with a win over Tacoma and a Grays Harbor loss against South Puget Sound.
Wednesday's home game is the regular season finale. The Devils host Tacoma at 6 pm. It will be sophomore night as they will be honored in fron of the home fans prior to the game.
