Devils Dock The Clippers For 20th Victory

It's another 20 win season for LCC head coach Chad Meadors and his Lower Columbia College women's basketball team.

The Devils jumped out to a flying start, outscoring South Puget Sound 23-6 in the first quarter and going on to an 82-50 victory Thursday February 22nd.

Six Devils scored in double figures led by the 16 points of Tywanna Abbott.

Cherita Daugherty had 10 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and four steals.  She also played suffocating defense which was picked up by her teammates.  LCC forced 22 South Puget Sound turnovers. The Red Devils had just eight miscues.

Hayley Niles had 13 points, six boards and three blocks.  Nizhoni Wheeler had 15 points on 7 for 11 shooting.  Kenya Lorton also had 11 points off the bench. Shanay Dotson also scored in double figures with 12 points.

Mackenzie Bergquist led the Clippers with 14 points.

LCC is now 20-8 on the season and the Devils have surpassed 20 wins for five consecutive seasons under Coach Meadors.

The Devils are 10-2 in the West Region and remain one game behind 11-1 Grays Harbor.  Lower Columbia travels to Des Moines for a 12 noon game with Highline on Saturday February 24th.  LCC will be trying to avenge a disappointing loss to the T-Birds back on January 27th.
